Property description

The origins of the medieval seat of Mühldorf are unknown. It is assumed that the first building on this site dates back to the turn of the 1st millennium. The property was first mentioned in a document in 1347 and changed hands several times. In 1747, the Cistercian monastery of Wilhering became the owner of the castle and its surrounding lands, and remained so until 1979. In that year, a family of investors purchased all the buildings within the castle walls.

Since then, the new owners have undertaken extensive, costly and loving renovations. The property is now an exceptionally beautiful and rare example of a historic castle complex in Austria, whose unique character has been preserved while simultaneously successfully bringing it into the 21st century.

The three-story castle was originally surrounded by a moat and four towers. However, the moats have long since been filled and leveled.

What has now been preserved is the rectangular central building from the first half of the 16th century, as well as the Gothic gate tower with the main portal and a pedestrian gate, as well as a round tower with a steep conical roof in the southwest.

The castle has a T-shaped floor plan, as a transverse building of the same height, dating from the second half of the 17th century, was added to the main building to the west. Its wing ends are fortified with two towers. Behind the slanted rectangular gate tower, which supports a steep tent roof, a kennel-like courtyard extends to the round tower on the opposite side of the residential building. This round tower houses the castle chapel, dedicated to St. Barbara. It is a small elliptical room topped by a dome. Its altar dates from 1660, and the altarpiece from the same period was painted by Bartolomeo Altomonte. The castle's main feature is the seven-axis west front. In its center protrudes a narrow, square stair tower with an onion dome. The first floor contains several stucco frame ceilings from the 17th century, and on the second floor, individual carved beam ceilings from the first half of the 16th century.

An outbuilding with approximately 100 m² of usable space – currently equipped as a full-fledged gym – is also part of the property. A romantic castle garden with mature trees, a stone fountain, two baroque archways, and a well-kept rose garden adjoins the eastern flank of the building.

The entire complex is surrounded by a ring wall and secured by an electronic access system and video surveillance.

Various inventory, art treasures and antiques can also be acquired against bid.

The property area covers a total of 11,344 m²;

Land use: Special designation “Building land - Castle” or grassland.

Directly in front of the area is the impressive

The 27-hole golf course of the Feldkirchen/Donautal Golf Club is home to Europe's largest driving range, a flat 18-hole championship course, and a 9-hole academy course.

The surroundings of Mühldorf and Feldkirchen offer the

Pesenbach nature reserve, the enchanting lakes, extensive Danube meadows and many

Opportunities for leisure activities, but also culture and, above all, peace and quiet.

People here appreciate the supposed “isolation”

However, the immediate proximity to the city leaves nothing to be desired. Thanks to the new Danube Valley Bridge, the state capital of Linz can be easily reached in less than 30 minutes.

The castle can therefore be described as an incomparable

residential residence and/or as a representative company headquarters.

All in all, a real chance to find yourself and a good vision

realize!
