In a beautiful low mountain range, surrounded by a series of wooded granite mountains, Hauzenberg forms the center of the southern Bavarian Forest. The distance to Passau is 20 km, to the border with Austria 17 km and to the border with the Czech Republic 35 km.
Numerous cultural and natural monuments are contemporary witnesses to the life and work of our ancestors and the history of the region.
The first settlement was in Hauzenberg around 5,000 years ago.
The city currently has around 11,600 inhabitants.
In 2002 the city was awarded the title of “state-recognized climatic health resort”.
