UGLJAN AND PAŠMAN
Although they are two islands, they are often mentioned together because they are connected by a bridge and almost form a single island. They are the closest islands to the mainland in the Zadar archipelago, accessible in just about a 20-minute ferry ride. Connections to the mainland are provided by numerous ferry and boat services via the Port of Zadar and the Port of Biograd.
We recommend a visit to Ugljan (on the island of the same name), Lukoran near the famous Olive Island Marina, the charming Preko - which is also Zadar's ferry and boat port, Kali with one of the largest fishing fleets on the Adriatic, Kukljica and Dobropoljana, Pašman and Ždrelac with beautiful beaches and walking trails.
On these islands you will find everything you need for daily life: schools, kindergartens, health centers, pharmacies, numerous shops, restaurants, etc.
No other island is as well connected to the mainland as Ugljan. The connected islands of Ugljan and Pašman are accessible even in winter with up to 30 daily ferry connections.
Ugljan is an island with planned golf courses as well as extremely valuable and luxurious resorts and tourist complexes. These include the private 5-star resort "Lioqa" on the west coast in Pavlešina Bay. The same investor is planning another resort 4 km south. The beautiful "Zelena Punta" resort in Kukljica is also scheduled for renovation.
Kali is a beautiful island town located directly on the sea, east of Preko and the ferry port. It boasts a beautiful coastline, Mediterranean atmosphere, and many recreational activities, especially during the summer months.
Ugljan is the closest and most developed island in the Zadar archipelago, opposite the city of Zadar. KALI
Kali is located on the island of Ugljan and is the largest town on the entire island.
It has a population of approximately 1,650. The old town center, with its narrow streets and Dalmatian-style stone houses, is situated on a hill and offers beautiful views of the surrounding area.
Kali is a traditional fishing village, untouched by mass tourism—a rarity on the Adriatic. A Mediterranean town known for its clean sea, fishing boats, beautiful bays, and beaches.
In Kali, you'll experience what has long been lost in many places – the authenticity of a genuine Dalmatian village with the openness and hospitality of the local people. Kali offers a natural ambiance, peace, relaxation, and local specialties – especially fish dishes. Many visitors fall in love at first sight – and for a lifetime.
The climate is characterized by all the typical characteristics of the Mediterranean climate – very dry summers and mild winters. The average annual temperature is above 15°C, with the average temperature in the hottest month, July, being 24°C and in the coldest month, January, being 12°C. Days with temperatures below 0°C are extremely rare. Sunshine duration is approximately 2,500 hours per year – in July, the sun shines up to 12 hours a day.
The island of Ugljan is 22 km long, rich in vegetation, and has excellent infrastructure. There is a school, emergency medical services in Kali, a pharmacy, shops, supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, a gas station, a marina, etc. Numerous cultural, sporting, and entertainment events take place in the summer. The large folk festival "Kualjske ribarske noći" (Kali Fishermen's Festival) has a tradition spanning over 50 years.
